The Federation of the Islamic Associations of New Zealand has strongly condemned comments made by Destiny Church leader Brian Tamaki, who called for Hindus, Sikhs, and Muslims to be removed from New Zealand in a social media video. The federation described the remarks as dangerous hate speech that could encourage extremism and threaten community safety.
Race Relations Commissioner Melissa Derby said she was shocked by the comments and warned they could harm affected communities. Police are reviewing the video, while community leaders have called on the government to take stronger action against hate speech and promote social cohesion. Indian community representatives also criticised the remarks, saying they create division and fear among New Zealand’s diverse communities.
