KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party coordinator and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said Nepal’s political leadership, bureaucracy and various state institutions appear to be operating in a state of uncertainty.
Speaking at an event in Kathmandu on Saturday, Dahal criticised the government’s current working style, while saying his party would continue to support and cooperate with good initiatives and oppose or criticise actions it considers wrong.
Assessing the country’s recent political situation, Dahal called on political leaders, civil servants, civil society and responsible citizens to become more serious and accountable towards the nation and the people.
He stressed that national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity must remain the highest priorities.
Dahal also said all political and social forces should work together to protect democracy and freedoms achieved through decades of struggle.
“Politics, the bureaucracy and various state institutions appear to be somewhat uncertain at the moment,” Dahal said. “We have consistently maintained that good work will receive our cooperation and support, while wrong actions will face criticism and opposition.”
He urged state institutions and conscious citizens to act responsibly and keep the national interest and public welfare at the centre of their work.
