Auckland: Three members of New Zealand’s Nepali community have been appointed to key positions within the international structure of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), marking a significant achievement for the Nepali diaspora in New Zealand.
Former Honorary Consul of Nepal to New Zealand Atma Ram Khanal, former NRNA New Zealand General Secretary Daya Nidhi Gautam, and former NRNA New Zealand Treasurer Bipan Bhandari have been entrusted with important responsibilities within the organization’s global leadership.
According to NRNA, Khanal has been appointed as a Member of the International Coordination Council (ICC), Gautam as Deputy Regional Coordinator (DRC) for Oceania, and Bhandari as ICC Youth Coordinator.
Speaking to Himalpari Media, newly appointed ICC Member Atma Ram Khanal said his priority would be to identify the challenges faced by Non-Resident Nepalis around the world, present those issues in a coordinated manner at the international level, and work towards meaningful solutions.
He also said he would actively promote foreign investment in Nepal and help transfer the skills, knowledge, and professional experience gained by Nepalis abroad back to Nepal. Khanal added that he would focus on issues that serve the broader interests of the Nepali diaspora throughout his tenure.
Similarly, newly appointed Oceania Deputy Regional Coordinator Daya Nidhi Gautam said one of his key priorities would be to strengthen coordination and collaboration among Nepali communities and organizations across the Oceania region.
“My main goal will be to work closely with Nepali communities and various organizations across Oceania, ensure regional issues are effectively represented at the international level, and help facilitate practical solutions,” Gautam said.
Meanwhile, NRNA New Zealand congratulated all three appointees through a social media statement, describing their appointments as a proud moment for the Nepali community in New Zealand. The organization said the appointments recognize their dedication, leadership, experience, and long-standing commitment to serving the global Nepali diaspora.
The association expressed confidence that their leadership and experience would strengthen the work of the International Coordination Council and its related committees. It also said the three representatives would play an important role in representing New Zealand’s Nepali community internationally while contributing to the welfare, unity, and continued development of NRNA worldwide.
In its congratulatory message, NRNA New Zealand wished Khanal, Gautam, and Bhandari every success in their new roles, expressing confidence that their appointments would further enhance the representation and participation of New Zealand’s Nepali community within the global NRNA network.
