Kathmandu: The Medical Education Commission has approved the Scholarship Grant Procedures, 2083 BS, paving the way for smoother implementation of scholarship funding and resolving long-standing legal and administrative hurdles in medical education.
The decision was made during a commission meeting chaired by Prime Minister Balendra Shah at Singha Durbar. The new procedure, endorsed after receiving approval from the Ministries of Education and Finance, authorizes the Commission to provide grants to public and medical education institutions offering free scholarships, including advanced postgraduate programmes such as DM and M.Ch.
The procedure follows recent amendments to the National Medical Education Act through an ordinance, providing the Commission with the legal authority to formulate scholarship guidelines and ensuring continued financial support for free medical education.
