Spain secured a 1-0 victory over Uruguay in their final FIFA World Cup 2026 Group H match, finishing as group winners and advancing to the knockout stage.
Álex Baena scored the match-winning goal in the 42nd minute at Estadio Guadalajara. Uruguay created several chances after the break but failed to find an equaliser, ending their World Cup campaign.
Cape Verde, making its World Cup debut, progressed as Group H runners-up and will face Argentina in the Round of 16. Uruguay and Saudi Arabia were eliminated in the group stage.
